Blue Mountain Homestay is fantastic if you are looking for a small and quiet experience in Kathmandu.The beds are quality and comfy and the linens and furniture are also! I stayed for almost two weeks and felt completely at home. Mr. Buddhi, his wife and Milan are your hosts and see to all your needs. Mr. Buddhi runs a travel and trekking company as well, so his knowledge and services are available. The homestay is a short walk from the heart of Thamel and out of the noise and chaos. Its perfect. The rooftop gardens make beautiful ambience. The roof top room has an attached bathroom and the two rooms below share a very spacious bathroom. Don't be deterred from the shared bath, it is clean and it just feels like sharing with brothers and sisters because the whole place is like being with family. If you want privacy, you close the door and have the beauty of your own room. There is ample hot water and wifi on the first two floors. They can make dinner for you at your request family style and Milan is a great cook. He is happy to make your breakfast as you like it. The second floor can also be rented as an apartment with its own kitchen if you p[lan to stay longer. I will absolutely stay here when I return. Can't imagine going anywhere else!

I was in my room at blue mountain during the earth quake, thank goodness that it is a very well run and well maintained hotel, the care I received all through the crisis was unliveable, Buddhi, his wife & staff were like mother hens taking care of there young, making sure we were safe and fed, The hotel was not visibly damaged certainly no cracks. Please everyone once it is safe go to Nepal, they need you to re-establish tourism as they are totally reliant on it . I have travelled to Nepal many times and Blue mountain is the best place I have stayed regardless of price.
